Balance, explained

The balance dial in the lineup builder shows how far the boat leans and which way to move weight. Only people who can edit lineups see it.

1

Two readings

Side is left against right. Trim is bow against stern. Both come from each seated person’s weight and where they sit; seats farther from the middle count for more.

2

Read the number as weight

Each reading is the weight you’d move at the widest bench to get the same lean. Shift about half of it across, or toward the other end, to level the boat.

3

Read the colour

Green is within 5%. Up to 10% it stays neutral; past 10% it turns amber. The marker on the dial takes the colour of the worse reading.

4

The drummer and the steersperson

They sit on the centreline, so they don’t move Side. At the ends of the boat they’re the longest levers, so they move Trim a lot.

5

Missing weights

A seated person with no weight counts as zero, so the boat reads lighter than it is. Ask them to add it in You › Your details, or seat a stand-in from Stand-ins in the pool: four fixed weights from 70 to 100 kg, shown in your unit.
